- Raijin and Fūjin, the anthropomorphic deities who respectively govern and harness lightning and the wind, have hitherto been depicted in painting, rarely in sculpture. Noting this, Takeya Takayuki, whose unequaled execution has given birth to so many a quality figure, boldly sets out to figurize Raijin and Fūjin; and the momentous success is achieved. The wielder of lightning and the wind bringer are both realistically materialized by highly developed sculpture. Behold the gods' awe-inspiring beauty which has never attained to its full dignity in painting.
